NYC Councilman Presents Resolution Calling for Removal of PLO Office

(IsraelNN.com) A strongly worded resolution
calling for the PA offices in New York to be closed
was announced at 11:30am on Thursday, January 24
on the steps of City Hall in New York City.

The resolution was drafted by Councilman Oliver Koppel.

The resolution states "whereas the offices of the Palestinian Authority pose a danger to New Yorkers, it is the responsibility of the City Council to protect the safety of New Yorkers, be it resolved that the City Council urges the government of the United States to immediately close the offices of the Palestinian Authority in the City of New York."

The resolution notes that the "Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade" linked to the Fatah movement led by Yasser Arafat has claimed responsibility for the attack at a bat mitzvah celebration last week where 6 innocent persons were killed and 30 wounded, as well as Tuesday in Jerusalem where 51 were wounded and 2 were killed.

Rabbi Avi Weiss stated that similar resolutions will soon be introduced in the New York State Assembly, as well as in the House of Representatives and the United States Senate. Rabbi Weiss is the national president of the Coalition for Jewish Concerns - AMCHA, the organization coordinating the campaign.
