* ISRAEL NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW *

The Shabo Family

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your concern and warm responses to the Shabo family. Here is an update on the family following the unspeakable tragic event at Itamar on Thursday night, June 20, 2002.

On the last day of shiva, Avia, age 13, was released from the hospital and joined her father Boaz and her older brother and sister to sit shiva for her mother and three murdered brothers. Avia survived four bullet wounds to her chest and will require extensive reconstructive and plastic surgery. She is recovering at her grandmothers house.

Asael, age 8, lost his right leg during the attack. He is currently in Sheba hospital, Tel Hashomer and will be there for a few months for convalescence and rehabilitation. Asael was caught two days ago hopping out of his sick bed to get some chocolates from a cupboard and then hopping back into bed.

The Shabo house in Itamar was completely destroyed by fire during the attack and rescue by the Israel Defence Force. All their possessions need replacement. Unfortunately, as a struggling Israeli couple with both parents working to care for their seven children , the Shabos had no homeowners, nor life insurance policy. Boaz has decided to return with his four children to Itamar, to attempt to rebuild his life. Boaz must also find or build a new home that is handicap accessible to meet Asaels needs. It was Rachels dream to live and raise her family in Itamar. The entire community grieves for her and her three boys; Neriyah, Tzvika and Avishia.

The only funds that they have received from the Israeli governments Victims of Terror Fund is a one time check for 50,000 NIS (approxmitly $10,000) for the entire familys needs.

They have only the clothing on their backs. They need everything. Lost or destroyed was all their clothing, home furnishing, appliances, pots and pans for a kosher kitchen, books, prayer books, gemaras and even their teffilin. Additionally, in the future they will have many sur [bad text] te whatever you can to this most worthy cause. 100% of all monies collected will go directly to the family or for purchase of items needed by the family. There are no administrative costs.

Contributions can be sent to the following: 1- Bank Mizrachi, branch 430 64 Rabbi Akiva Street Bnei Brak, 51274, Israel Account # 580994 , check payable to Keren Rachel.

2- Contributions in the U.S are tax deductible if made to: Central Fund for Israel 980 Avenue of the Americas New York, N.Y, 10018 checks should be earmarked Shabo Family.

3- Checks and letters may be sent directly to Boaz Shabo via his twin brother, Meir as follows: Meir Shabo 24 Shivtei Yisrael Street Jerusalem , 95105, Israel

Thank you for your condolences and concern. We pray for peace in the land of Israel and throughout the world.

Many Thanks,

The Shabo Family
